Temporary Learner Driver Insurance

Temporary learner driver insurance, or provisional learner insurance is a popular choice for provisional drivers who want to get more hours of driving practice in, without the expense of driving lessons. All you need is access to a car and a suitable driving supervisor for practice sessions.

When Do You Need Temporary Learner Driver Insurance?

Short-term learner insurance is a great option for anyone looking to get a bit of extra practice before their test. Our temporary learner driver insurance is flexible so you only pay for the hours, days, or weeks you need cover for. Our short-term cover takes the stress out of financing learning to drive.

What's covered

What’s covered may vary slightly between providers, but when purchasing a learner policy from us, you can generally expect the following:
All our policies, except for impound insurance, offer comprehensive cover. Be sure to check your policy documents for specific details on what your chosen learner insurance covers.
Flexible Duration – You’re covered for the exact duration you choose, perfect for learners who need driving test insurance or just need insurance for practice sessions. For example, if you select a one hour learner policy, you’ll be insured for that period. If you need more time, you can easily buy a new policy for however long you need
Third-Party Damage – You’ll be covered if you cause damage to another vehicle or property while driving.
Damage – Your insured vehicle will be protected against accidental or malicious damage.
Theft – Your car is protected in the event of theft or damage during an attempted theft.
Fire Damage – Your vehicle will be covered in the event of fire-related damage.
Owner’s No-Claims Discount Protected: If you’re borrowing someone else’s car to practise, knowing the owner’s no-claims discount is protected in case of a claim provides both you and the owner with extra peace of mind on the road.

Optional Extras (Excludes Impounded Vehicles)

While comprehensive cover offers excellent protection for the insured vehicle, there are additional options you might want to include for extra peace of mind whilst out practising your driving:
Breakdown Protection Cover – For as little as £1.49, add breakdown protection to your policy. This includes roadside assistance, local recovery, nationwide recovery, and up to £250 towards alternative transport to complete your journey if needed.
Legal Protection Cover – If you’re involved in a non-fault accident and need to take legal action to attempt to recover your uninsured losses, this extra can help cover the associated costs in some cases.
